WHO WE ARE
Art and Spirituality CIC is a community social enterprise (Community Interest Company limited by guarantee) based in Gorgie, Edinburgh. We operate a community hub offering creative arts, movement and wellbeing activities, with a dedicated studio space, therapy room, and community room available to local groups and organisations.
Led by a volunteer board of directors and supported by a team of facilitators and volunteers, we have been active in the Gorgie-Dalry-Saughton area since 2022, delivering classes, workshops, therapies and community events that support the mental, emotional and physical wellbeing of local residents.
Our programme includes painting and drawing, yoga, breathwork, meditation, cooking, storytelling and outdoor events in Saughton Park, activities open to everyone in the community, regardless of background or belief.
WHO WE SUPPORT
We are committed to serving the whole Gorgie-Dalry-Saughton community, with a particular focus on those who face barriers to participation, including people experiencing isolation, anxiety, trauma, low income, hidden disabilities, and those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.
We work alongside local organisations through the Gorgie Dalry Forum to ensure our services reach those who need them most. Our work extends beyond our studio: we host events in local green spaces like Saughton Park, embrace sustainable practices, and actively contribute to the social and environmental wellbeing of the neighbourhood.
OUR VISION AND MISSION
Our vision is a Gorgie-Dalry-Saughton community where everyone has access to affordable, welcoming spaces for creativity, wellbeing and connection, regardless of background, belief or circumstance. Our mission is to deliver creative arts and holistic wellbeing activities that support the mental, emotional and physical health of local residents, while building a stronger, more connected community. We use creative expression (painting, movement, storytelling, cooking and more) as a practical pathway to improved wellbeing. Our approach is inclusive and non-judgmental, drawing on a wide range of evidence-based practices including yoga, meditation, breathwork, art therapy and coaching.
We believe that when people feel well within themselves, they are better able to contribute to their families, their neighbours and their community. That is the heart of what we do.
OUR FREE COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
We offer a wide range of free community workshops, classes and therapies, including creative arts (painting, drawing and crafts), cooking, yoga, meditation and breathwork. Our programme is designed to be accessible to all, with sessions held during evenings and weekends to accommodate those in employment.
We also deliver free funded projects in partnership with local organisations, providing residents with practical skills and tools to support their health, wellbeing and daily lives.
The majority of our free activities are open to the whole community with no restrictions on who can attend. Some funded programmes are designed for specific groups like women only.
